The Connect Program is a 14-week, evidence-based group program for mothers and their children (age 8-11) who identify as having experienced family violence. This program is run as a partnership between Colac Area Health and the SAFV Centre in Geelong.
This program provides participants:
• Practical tools and skills in mindfulness and emotional regulation to manage symptoms of trauma.
• Psycho-education about the impacts of trauma on the brain, body and behaviour.
• Information about family violence and how it can negatively impact the parent-child relationship.
• Creative, experiential activities designed to repair and strengthen the parent-child relationship.
• Opportunity for mothers and their children to build connections with other victim/survivors in the community, helping them to feel less alone.
Important information:
• Connect generally runs annually every Wednesday afternoon from the end of February to the start of June.
• Childcare for non-school aged children and light refreshments are provided
